iTel is gearing up to launch three new budget phones in the Indian market on 20 March. According to company sources, the new phones will have 18:9 displays and thin bezels. The three phones are said to be priced between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 and come with fingerprint sensors. That means we might see a Rs 5,000 phone with a fingerprint sensor and an 18:9 display.
The top-end smartphone — S42 (successor to the S41) is expected to sport a 5.65-inch HD+ (720 x 1440p) display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. The dual-SIM phone would allow 4G LTE connectivity and is expected to run Android Oreo 8.0 out-of-the-box.
Our source further reveals that the phone would feature a Snapdragon 425 paired with 3GB RAM and 16GB in-built storage expandable up to 128GB.
For optics, the S42 would feature a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and a 13MP front camera with an LED flash, which hints that it might be a selfie-centric phone. It is said to pack a 3000mAh battery. Aside from a fingerprint sensor, the phone is said to have all the basic sensors like proximity, gyroscope and light sensor.
The S42 is said to be 8.2mm thin, which points towards a decently slim and handy form factor. The phone could be launched at Rs 10,000, where it will compete against the likes of Redmi Note 5, Canvas Infinity, LG Q6 and more. And this phone is likely to arrive in Black and Champagne colours.
